The Washington University

Wash U is a private research University which located in St.Louis,Missouri,United states. This University was established on February 22, 1853 with size 169 acres. It has a total enrollment of  7,336. Although the address of Wash U is in St.Louis but the majority of the school’s main campus is located in unincorporated St.Louis county and suburban clayton.

Wash U has 14 libraries and it was the largest library system in the state of missouri which containing over 4.2 million volumes.

Beside the library,Wash U also has a museum named Mildred Lane Kemper Art museum. This museum was established in 1881 which is one of the oldest teaching museum in the country. In 2006,the Kemper Art Museum moved to Steinberg hall.

About student residences,the Washington university provides residences for its students. Over 50 % undergraduate students live on campus. Most of the residence halls on campus are located on the south 40. It has that name because its location was on the south side of the danforth campusand its size of 40 acres (160.000 m2). It is the location of the freshmen building. In Washington University,the freshmen are require to live on campus in their first year. After that they can choose to still live on campus houses or live off-campus apartments or houses. Another location residences of Washington University is called the village. It is located in the northwest corner of Danforth University. But,this residence just open to upperclassmen.

When we talk about the student media,Wash University has four major student media outlets,such as:

1. The university's student newspaper called Student Life

2. KWUR (90.3 FM) serves as the students' official radio station

3. WUTV is the university's television channel.

4. The university's main student-run political publication is the Washington University Political Review which called WUPR

Every University has their own traditions,include Wash University. Several tradition which are famous such as :

1. WILD (walk in lay down). It is one of the biggest even on campus which establish in 1973. Held at the beginning of the fall semester and the end of the spring semester.why  The concert is named for an old tradition in which students would bring sofas into the quad and lie on them while watching the performances.

2. Bauhaus is an Annual Halloween costume party sponsored by the Architecture School Council, held in a large tent in front of Givens Hall.

3. Thurtene Carnival is The oldest and largest student-run carnival in the nation. 

4. Cultural shows is an event where Washington University student groups put on several multicultural shows. Washington University held this event every year.
